Ceramic Petrology Group Annual Meeting

The Ceramic Petrology Group Annual Meeting, took place between 17 and 19 November 2021. It was organized by GRAMP this year organized as part of the Greyware research project. These three days, still in virtual format due to the COVID pandemic, have been a special stage for the presentation of the latest research related to projects in ceramic petrography and for scholarly debate among specialists. GRAMP’s researchers feel honoured for being able to manage the organization of an event like this and we express our deepest gratitude to the CPG committee for the trust placed in our group. We look forward to seeing you again in person next year in Ghent, Belgium. See you then!

Archaeological fieldwork at the Iberian and Medieval Village of L’Esquerda (Roda de Ter, Barcelona, Spain)

Archaeological fieldwork in the Iberian and Medieval Village of L’Esquerda is taking place from August 23th until September 4th, and several researchers from GRAMP.UB are involved in research tasks. In this year's excavation, also affected by the health and safety measures derived from the Covid protocol, archaeologists in the medieval sector are working at the south of the necropolis, in the highest point of the site, where the structures of the noble area of the town are located.

International Meeting on Ceramics organized by the AIEMC3

The XIII International Congress on Medieval and Modern Ceramics in the Mediterranean (https://blogs.ugr.es/xiiiaiecm3/) takes place in Granada in a hybrid format, between 8th and 13th November. The GRAMP took part in it with a communication entitled “Crisis, what crisis? Technological and functional adaptation of medieval greyware pottery production in transition periods. A diachronic approach in Northeastern Catalonia” and a poster on data modelling for the analysis of ceramic productions. Both contributions are some of the first results of the ongoing GREYWARE project.

Participation at the Meeting on Digital Humanities in Spain

The V Meeting on Digital Humanities has taken place this week. The University of Santiago de Compostela organized this meeting with Scire Vias as a motto (https://hdh2021.org/). Archaeology is increasingly taking part in Digital Humanities with innovative views and perspectives, as demonstrated in keynote lectures in this meeting. The GRAMP has taken part with several talks introduced by some of its members.

Participation at the European Association of Archeologists Annual Meeting (#EAA2021)

The European Association of Archaeologists Annual Meeting (#EAA2021) took place during the last week. As in previous editions, GRAMP’s researchers took place in the event introducing different communications and posters related to the on-going research projects related to pottery analysis and landscape archeology.

Conference in Revenga and Prospection Fieldwork in Canicosa (Burgos, Spain)

The archaeological fieldwork in Revenga ended as usual with a conference by the directors of the excavation, researchers Karen Álvaro and Esther Travé, entitled "Arqueología en tiempos de pandemia", to disseminate the results of the work carried out. This weekend, also in the territory of Alto Arlanza, GRAMP’s researchers have carried out topographic work and archaeological prospection in the parish church of Canicosa de la Sierra, as part of our Landscape Archaeology research line.
